The 11th National Russian Competition for College Students was held in Shanghai International Studies University from October 26 to 28, 2018. Students from Russian department of our college participated in this competition. After the fierce competition, contestants from our college achieved excellent results because of their strong strength and quick thinking. Zhong Yueyao and Li Xiang from the class of 2017 won the third prize in the junior group. Zhang Yunmeng from the class of 2015 won the second prize in the senior group, ranking third among 147 contestants in the country. These three students will be fully funded by the Secretariat of China Scholarship Council to go to Russia for the study for a degree or for further study.

Sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, the National Russian Competition for College Students is an institutionalized project within the framework of the culture cooperation between China and Russia. It has been successfully held for ten times since 2008. This year, the competition was hosted by Shanghai International Studies University. A total of 349 contestants from 147 colleges and universities participated in this competition, competing for 60 awards in the junior, senior and postgraduate groups. The competition not only provides a good platform for students who major in Russian to show their knowledge of Russian language, literature, culture, national conditions, history and geography, but also promotes the development of Russian teaching.
