On the morning of November 5th, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee Feng Zhengyu went to the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) to carry out a symposium on education research with the theme “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind.” He listened to the report on the progress of the school's theme education and investigated the relevant work of the school. Other leaders from the Party Committee Office accompanied him during his visit. All members of the leading group of the School of Foreign Languages attended the symposium.
The party committee secretary of SFL Liu Changsong gave a brief summary on the progress of the theme education; Zhou Yifu, the dean of the School reviewed the status in terms of discipline and teacher development, academic research, staff training and international exchanges. Other members of the leadership team who participated in the meeting also reported to Mr. Feng on the problems that were found in the theme education research activities in the previous period that restricted the construction and development of the school. The participants discussed and analyzed these issues in depth. Secretary Feng and his entourage also conducted on-site inspections on several specific issues.
Feng reaffirmed the accomplishment of the School in the past years, and provided some guidance and solutions on related issues. He also outlined the requirements for the SFL’s future work, saying that talents are the core in the promotion of school development. It is of great significance to strengthen international exchanges, innovate and improve the education system and teaching mechanism, and provide overseas work and study opportunities for young teachers and students.
The theme education should be implemented in the everyday routine work. It is necessary to take this theme education as an opportunity to make full investigation on the actual development of the school, so that teachers, students and staff can see the improvement both in the leaders and the school’s work. We should continue to learn from the top universities, analyze the gaps between us carefully and make up for our shortcomings so that we can find a better way to make greater progress.
